Ex-National Security and Home Affairs, Minister Guy Mayers has expressed concerns about the goal of switching from hand written to machine readable passports. Saint Lucia's Foreign Minister is reporting progress on a request by the Saint Lucia government, for the United States to set up an embassy here. A Saint Lucian Minister has had his US Visa revoked from the US government. So says a Member of Parliament and the US Embassy based in Barbados. The Minister in question -- who is said to have recently visited the US - had no knowledge of this when we contacted him for comment. Saint Lucians must now pay $75 per visa application to enter Canada. That's according to Citizenship and Immigration Canada who on Tuesday added the country to a list of others in the Caribbean requiring a visa to visit. The Canadian government's decision comes months after Saint Lucia's Consul General warned against false claims for refugee status in that country he said was damaging the relationship between Saint Lucia and Canada. And while the Canadians say their decision came over concerns of unreliable travel documents, the Prime Minister and Police have a differing view on these concerns.
